Ballston Condos and Ballston Townhomes in Arlington, VA for sale.

Ballston, a charming and chic neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia lies just west of Washington, DC at the end of the Wilson Boulevard/Clarendon metro corridor. Ballston VA real estate is made up of a majority of condos and townhomes and some single-family residences. It is an ideal place to live for people who work in the city. It includes businesses, apartments, condos, schools, shopping malls (i.e. Ballston Common Mall), nightlife, restaurants, and parks.

It is estimated that approximately 22% of homeowners have lived here for over five years. The area is pedestrian friendly and with the Metro service covering both Ballston and Virginia Square, people don’t need to use a car to get around as much as in other places.

Ballston has a variety of luxury to moderately priced condos between $350,000 and $750,000 for one to three bedrooms. The 68-unit Ballston Row townhouse community is a big draw for move-up condo owners wanting to remain in Arlington, close enough to the excitement and nightlife, yet feeling away from the noise once the doors are closed. Prices range from approximately $800,000 to $1,400,000 for three to five bedrooms. Single-family homes are found mostly on the outskirts. Estimated median home value is $532,000.

In addition to the Arlington County public schools, there are about 25 elementary schools, the Washington-Lee High School, two middle schools and many other schools. With a population of 12,319, Ballston is home to highly educated professionals as well as a trendy young crowd. It has the highest number of postgraduates in the United States.

There is major redevelopment taking place in Ballston VA right now. If you wish to cash in some years down the road, do not miss the opportunity to claim property of any type in this area, if you can find it.

Plans have already been approved for what is called the Ballston Quarter Redevelopment to include the Ballston Common Mall which is going to be totally changed, encompassing various facades and living units above some of the stores; a new condo complex of 22 stories; a new mixed-use building with residential and retail uses on the site of the existing Macy’s Home Store; new plazas and mews and significant garage improvements – still all within two block of the Metro.

If the surfeit of restaurants and nightlife is not sufficient for you, then perhaps some of the parks, gyms and other recreational activities will do the trick. And don’t forget Arlington’s Main Library, Curtis Lee Mansion, and the Arlington Visitor Center. If all else fails, remember that the added excitement of DC is just a skip and a jump from Ballston Arlington VA.
