Community Organized Events in Lyon Park
Lyon Park community events are not only open to members, but also to neighbors. There are a wide variety of activities each year, affording entertainment, as well as volunteer opportunities. A few examples include the Community Yard Sale held each September, and the daytime Parade of Costumes in October around Halloween. The costume parade begins at the Park, where there is also a pumpkin-carving contest. After dark on Halloween, there is a bonfire with story-telling and refreshments, and these events are free and open to the public.
In November, the community hosts a Craft and Bake Fair, then in December a Children’s Holiday Party, which includes a visit by Santa and a caroling sing-along. Each January, there is a Pancake Breakfast, and in March, they host a Chili Cookoff.
The longest-running Lyon Park event is the Spring Fair in May. It has featured games, pony rides, baked goods, plant sales, lunch, and more every year since 1924.
